The New Pocomoke Restaurant...Just a Little More Time

The New Pocomoke City Restaurant

Downtown Pocomoke City, Maryland

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

If you've been downtown within the past few days you would have noticed the beautiful landscaping that has been done around the restaurant.

Just a few short weeks ago the brick pavers had just arrived and workers were busy at the job of arranging the walkways and tamping the bricks into place. Now all the mud that has been there all these weeks is coverd with grass and attractive shrubs and foliage outline the building.

Even the area below the Delmarva Discovery Center got some special attention!

Who's responsible for all this magnificent landscaping??
Douglas Guns, the Superintendent of the Winters Quarters Golf Course, and his marvelous crew along with Pocomoke City Public Works crew!! Along with the landscaping they paved an area next to the drawbridge so the Pocomoke Vol. Fire Co. can access a dry hydrant located on the docks.

Beautiful job!

Another good indication that it won't be long before many of us will be dining in the new restaurant and enjoying the view of the Pocomoke River. I will keep you posted on any updates.

A Different View of the New Pocomoke Restaurant

Pocomoke River
Sunday  May 27, 2012

Here's a totally different look at the restaurant being built between the Delmarva Discovery Center and the Pocomoke River.

Since I can not walk on water and my husband sold our boat and jet skis so  long ago to begin the hobby of mud bogging I have never been able to photograph the restaurant from this angle myself.

In just a few more weeks the long wait will be over.  Boaters and jet skiers will be able to take advantage of the FREE docking at the new restaurant while enjoying a meal or even just a few drinks either from the deck or inside.  I'm looking forward to it.
A big thank you to Bill and Sue Tull for sending me these photos to share.  Thank you for caring  about Pocomoke City, as many of us do, and enough about my venture (to capture history being made through photos)  and for knowing how important my "mission" is.

The New Pocomoke City Restaurant

Pocomoke City, Maryland
Sunday   April 29, 2012

Due to a few other obligations for the past few days I haven't been able to get to Pocomoke for any amount of time.  I dropped by late Sunday afternoon and before I crossed the bridge I noticed the lighting that had been mounted.... and they look wonderful!

The brickwork has been extended to the back of the restaurant.  I can only imagine what a tedious job that was.  But the work is beautiful and complements the entire restaurant and setting so well.

Work is still being done inside the restaurant and from what I understand great  things are being done in the kitchen....that's a good thing because I think we are all just about ready to have a meal there!

With every week that passes opening day is that much closer and it's  closer now than it  was  in December.

Once open,  the restaurant will feature indoor dining with windows to view the river or dining on the deck.  Either way you'll have quite a view of the river and its surroundings.

And remember:  NO FEE for docking your boat.  And NO FEE for the beauty that surrounds you.

A big thankyou to my wonderful husband for making sure I complete my mission.

Pocomoke City's New Restaurant

The New Pocomoke City Restaurant
Friday, March 16, 2012

Everytime I show up to take photos this  restaurant has become  more magnificent than the last time.  We have been watching this restaurant grow for a few months now with just a few more months left to go before all this will be in the past.
The railing was in place and truly  does compliment the entire building.  Even if I never get to eat a meal there it sure has been delightful to watch this grow into something that will make Pocomoke people proud.

MEN AT WORK

These are the guys that hardly get any attention or recognition for the hardwork they  do everyday.  Working in the water and mud is something that never appealed to me - or many others- but it's an honest job and someone has to do it.  Keep in mind that the city crew has two major projects going at the same time.-  The new restaurant and the police station....  Talk about busy.

These guys work! And  they all seem to work well toghether.  I surely hope that when all the maintenance is completed on the restaurant and police station someone gives them some powerful recognition!  Thye are deserving of it.

INSIDE THE RESTAURANT
There wasn't anything going on inside but you sure can tell someone has been there.  Alot of progress.....and getting closer to completion as each day passes...
Now that someone has been chosen by the city to manage the restaurant work on the kitchen can be completed.

OUTSIDE ON THE DECK

Friday was such a beautiful day and this is a most beautiful time of the year to be in down town Pocomoke.  I almost wished that instead of these guys working on the deck flooring they were setting up chairs.  How relaxing it will be to be seated on this deck at the edge of the Pocomoke River on days like this day was.

One of the workers showed me a photo he had taken of two Bald  Eagles that sit every morning in one of these trees across the river.  How great will that be seated at the restaurant in the early afternoon or evening and watch them land?  (Keep that in mind bird watchers)
Well, that's it for this time......I'll be back in a few more days and I can't wait!
Thank you Councilman Malloy for giving me the opportunity to take these photos but I must tell you that if I get my feet muddy and ruin a pair of shoes - you buy me a new pair.  Thanks for being such a good sport.  Please be sure to let your city crew know they've been photographed.  What a great group of hard working men!

Downtown Pocomoke On Thursday

It was a beautiful day yesterday in Pocomoke and it was so great being able to spend a few hours of my day there.  There is so much going on in preparation for the new restaurant to open and getting the new police station completed so the big move can be made.  What a big difference it will make in Pocomoke City when completed and I have a few photos to share later.

But first I want to share with you a group of workers that never seem to get acknowledged .......except for a written thank you from time to time.  I've never seen any  pictures of them at work!  I have some photos of these great people and I should have them posted by lunch time today.  Just have  patience with me.

But in the meantime here's a photo of the great American flag that always flys so proudly in Cypress Park.

Once the windows were revealed on the new restaurant I made it my goal to get a photo of the flags reflection.  If nothing else had happened worth talking about yesterday at least this goal had been achieved.
