Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Born March 2, 1904 in Springfield, Mass. and died September 24, 1991 in La Jolla, Calif.
He began working in 1927 as a freelance illustrator, writer and cartoonist. Under the name
of Dr. Seuss he began writing children's books with invented creatures and the nonsensical language most of us remember today. We read those books and then read those books to our own children. Each time a Dr. Seuss book is opened and read aloud over again it still leaves us with the fascinations it did when we were young.

Anyone remember The Cat In the Hat? Or Green Eggs and Ham?

Did you know that Dr. Seuss' s first book was And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, written in 1937?

"I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!" -- Dr. Seuss

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR. SEUSS
